Default Getting on Google

I'm intested in finding out everyones thoughts on the best and quickest way of getting listed on google. I have read some threads on "linking" and that this a good way of getting listed on google. Also, for SEO, does anybody have any reccomendations on getting links to my site, and services that will accomplish this for me?? Is there any links to threads that talk about site linking?? Any information would be helpfull, as I have no clue where to start.

I will start with the fact that getting links is a job. You can go here http://www.webproworld.com/viewforum.php?f=34 and submit your site that will help.

Your site need to look professional and have good content that makes people want to link to it.

Good quality sites will already have a high ranking in Google. So what you would do is type in one of your key words for example say you build websites you could type in web design. This will give you a list of all the web design companies listed in Google. Now pick out the top ten and type in their address with link: in front of it.

For example link:www.geeksonsteroids.com this will give you a list of all the sites that are linking to that company. Now you know these people will exchange links because they have already given your competition a link. So now take a look at their site and see if it is one you would like to link to. If it is send them an email and ask them if they would like to exchange links.

But remember a site that links to you can never hurt you but the ones you link to can hurt you.

When Google comes to my site they follow all the links on my site. If I link to you they will follow that link and find your site.

The more links the more times Google will be on your site.

I would work on links.

When I first started out with my site I submitted it to www.dmoz.org and many others. Google spiders dmoz and includes it with their searches.

Make sure your site is set up properly, with the right key words, tag etc. There are sites that will run free checks on your site to give you an idea how you are doing. You can also submit to many site for free. I paid Yahoo! for an inclusion, I think that cost 200 per year.

Once you get started, google will pick you up...it does take a little time.

Good luck!

Default "Link density" from linking page

Hello Janeth,

Your comments have been very enlightening. Regarding your advice to glueboy:

I have read that the importance of a link pointing towards a particular site is influenced by the amount of links (towards other sites) that are posted on the page of origin. As an example:

Suppose my site is receiving a link from a page on "widget.com/links.htm". However, that same widget.com page also showcases links to other 50 sites. As a consequence, the importance of the link pointing towards my site would be lower than, say, if there were only 5 links pointing to 5 distinct sites.

What is your opinion on that?

Cheers,

Lydia

Hi Lydia,
Yes there is a lot to take into account when exchanging links.
1. What is the pr of the page where your link will be added
2. What is the site about
3. What text you will use in the link
4. How many links are on the page where you link will be added

Im sure I have missed some others here as well

Also with Google making new changes there are sure to be more things to look at soon.
