Default Is There A Google IP Blacklist?

I'm wondering if there's such a thing?

Does Google blacklist certain IPs or blocks of IPs? And is there a way to tell if your website is sitting on a host that is blacklisted? Or a way to check out a webhost before buying a package to ensure they're not blacklisted by Google?

I've seen the odd reference to this, but have never come across a confirmed list or a public list.

I think google mainly bans domains and not IP's so much. Especially since many Ip addresses are shared, blocking an entire Ip isn't really fair. Not to say that it can't happen, but I think its unusual.

There definitely isn't a list and I highly doubt that google will ever give a list of banned domains or IP's.

Thanks for your reply jestep.

I'm thinking too that it would have to be by domain and not by IP to be fair (yikes some IPs have HUNDREDS of websites sitting on them). But there seems to be mention of this going back to 2002 (I've done a search on Google for Google Blacklist IP).

The reason I'm asking is that a friend's host is blacklisted by SPEWS. Seems the host she is using has an upstream that is spam friendly? We were more concerned about search engines blacklisting her sites as she doesn't need the host for emailing newsletters or anything.

Check http://www.whois.sc for your domains and read the blacklist status. That's how she found out it was listed.

There is a way to check if your not in Googles precious pool. I guess if the sites not there you've been banned.

Go to http://services.google.com/cobrand/free_customize type in a domain hit return and if it says no pages then your not there. It's glitchy I found so put in yahoo.com first to make sure it's working before panicing. It also tell you how many pages are in the pool.

I use it to check spidering when I create a new site. It's good when it's working.

Sorry a little more complex than I thought.

Go here
http://www.google.com/services/free.html
Click "Start here to customize Google for your site"
Then enter domain:) etc. etc.
