Why Google drop newer cache and replace with older cache?

Hi,

Recently, I check google's cache of my site, and it shows my page as it's been crawled by googlebot on January 14,2005. Today I check again, at it shows my page that's crawled on January 9, 2004.

My other site even show page that's crawled on January 2, 2004.

My Questions:
1. Why google drop newer cache of my site and replace it with older cache?
2. Is it normal?

Yes.
Happens often - usually when there is a bit of 'shuffle' happening in the search results - --- which we did see for a while yesterday.
