Default Google doing a bit of a shuffle at the moment

It appears to be a bit more than the usual flux --- mabe an internal PR update??? Maybe knob turned very slightly on one or more parts of the algo...

I thought that something is going on. Several hours ago my site dropped in SERPs to almost nothing. Does anyone else have changes in SERPS?

Default This is crazy

My main site went from #2 to #5 today. My rank on Yahoo and MSN never changes, but with Google, it is up and down, up and down, even when my content and links remain steady.

I have not seen any PR change, but the keyword ranking is changed for my web sites on the keywords like "India SEO" "Web design India"

Ranking for all my keywords have dropped significantly in Google. One keyword which was rising up the ranks suddenly dropped more than 400 places. They all rank consistenltly high in all Yahoo, MSN and MSN beta and most of the other search engines. I cannot understand the vast difference between the Google results and the other engines. I hate Google :-)

Everytime I make to about #36, I get sent back to #75 or so. This has happened at least 5 times over the past 3 months.

I haven't been making any changes to the site at all. The only thing I've been doing is building links with directory submissions, and link exchanges.

But obviously GG feels that I don't belong on a visable page. Oh ... but they have no problem taking $300/mo from me on AdWords. (sorry for the dig. I know the two are firewalled. I'm just not very happy GG's bias against newer sites.)

We are probably to witness this more and more.
With many new bots they probably now continuosly update their main database, which is not distributed with the same speed accross all datacenters.

I assume even that every PC in a single datacenter (up to 2,000 pc's per datacenter) use its own power in SERPS computation and retrieving DB data, which could explain different results even from the same datacenter.

While probably true, I don't feel that this alone explains the drastic movement.

I believe it has more to do with this being a new site (8 moths old) combined with an aggressive linking campaign. I believe since the March '04 update, Google has been trying to filter the garbage sites that are little more than DMOZ screen scrapes with Overture ads or AdWords.

Further, I think that as of March, Google is tracking exactly when a site comes online (first time found) and counts new BLs within a given period (maybe per month).

The problem is that these junk sites usually exhibit good on-page SEO and heavy linking. Thus, many new legitimate sites doing the same get caught in the filter, like dolphin in shark net :-)

This would remove half the first page. The last 5 days has been wierd indeed. Page 6 to 5 to 2 to 6 and today page 1, which is where I think they should back away from the knob and take a breather.

I too have compared datacenters and show as #6 page 1 - #7 page 1 and then page 3 on the next one.

I always feel better the less it moves no matter what the outcome.

This is the "going through a maze backwards is easier".....If you want the content they are looking for these sites show google the sites they display. What could be more optimized than google results itself.

And if google is truly tracking the BL rate of development, then this would be plugging a damn with you finger. This would be the intensive work of trying to put a bandaid on a flawed system and creating even more work for themselves than "scraping the concept" would be. I cant imagine they would utilize a policy of tracking all new sites instead of creating a better system of judgement that does not require this.

Thats just my piece though.

I see google has at last updates their image search. At least that will stop all the hits from images that were removed long ago.
