PR might be updating?
Not sure if this is it... I see different PR on one data center (66.102.11.99) - not sure if its a glitch or start of update.

Definitely a public update. Directory PR is also being updated. The "general" downward tread discussed previousy is still apparent - might be a lot if disappointed webmasters.

Its just occured to me that this is a strange time to update PR .... they must be having a New Year's eve party at the Googleplex and must have pushed the button at the party??? (...maybe accidently???? :-)
Its 4.00PM Sat here in Australia and I just watched midnight roll over in New York on Fox News .... so someone must have pushed the button late on Friday night at the Googleplex ????
Happy New Year.

On DCs 66.102.11.99 and 66.102.11.104 my main site has gone from 4 to 5. :-)
But, my volunteer site which was a low 5 looks like a drop to 4 even with the addition of about 40 BLs.
Also, a couple of competitors have fallen from 5 to 4. So, it looks like GG has once again raised the bar.

Thats what i meant by there is going to be a lot of disappointed webmasters. A significant increase in links would be needed to increase PR, let alone getting enough new links to just maintain it. Unless gained more than a modest number of links since the last public update, then there will be a drop.

One of my PR2 sites gone to PR3. One from PR0 to PR3.
My directory site moved from PR2 to PR4 :)
But my main site has just gone up from PR3 to PR4 with 190 Back Links :(
Overall it is OK for me.

Strange, it has not reached here yet. I don't know why we are always the last. it is not that I have not changed - all the new pages are still PR0, so it is just a matter of waiting.
Pressing hte PR update button was probably the prize for the silliest costume!

It has not reached us also. Only some data centers have shown the changes. Check the link above . Only two IPs are showing the new PR.

smo is correct.
Only two datacenters -- 66.102.11.104 and 66.102.11.99 -- are showing changes.
Try this tool if you'd like to see what's happening for your site:
http://www.mcdar.net/q-check/datatool.asp
Check the "New! Check for BL/ PR Update" button, enter your page without the http:// (added by the script), and don't bother entering keywords for this function.

Well, if they are currently up to date, I'll have a smile on my face when the others catch up.... Knowing me, it'll go down again!

Feeling good . Went from 4 to 6. It teased me last time as it was saying six in the directory, but never made it to the toolbar and backed up from the directory. I hope this one holds for me.

Not here yet. Never mind, I will check tomorrow.
It will be interesting to see which pages get the treatment. I put up five or six new pages over the last week or so and I will be able to track reasonably accurately when the data is from.

minstrel,
I bookmarked that tool...very handy. It was interesting to see which centers were reporting a PR increase on my site. However, I have a question for you or anyone who knows--What are these datacenters? What is their connection to Google and PR? Are they owned by G? Thanks!

The datacenters are all owned by Google. It's a way of distributing the load from thousands of searches all over the world: a network of databases on different servers.
Normally, the datacenters all contain the latest index updates. However, periodically, updates to the index are propagated across all the datacenters and when that happens they may for a few hours become out of sync.
