Default Google Bot

I think the bots are getting stuck on our site. Google hit our site over 3,000 times this month and it only hit our site 82 in November this seems unusual. Is this a good thing that the Googlebot is staying on our site much longer and more frequent?

It's usually a good thing.

However, if you care to post the URL, we can have a look and see if there's anything that may be "trapping" it.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Googlebot was on our site all day for the past 2 days. we had about 4,000 hits. An update is probably underway...

Could be a PR update :) !!

However, to the original question, I will add that if your site has in fact increased in PR (to PR5 or higher) it is very possible that this is in part the reason for additional visits.

Many believe that PR5 and higher sites are crawled daily. Further, over the past couple of weeks, lots of people have been reporting very long connect times and a high volume of page requests from googlebot.

Not only PR5 sites are crawled daily, my PR4 site is crawled daily also. The 2nd level pages are crawled every week or so...

Daily Ranking instability (which ive noticed lately) is always a good sign that Google is definately getting ready for its next update!

Google seems to be doing a lot more crawling lately. I am only PR 4 but have gone from about 53 pages indexed to over 90 in about a week. There were only about 6 new pages, the rest were just added I guess.
