Default PageRank tactics

Hello,
I previously haven't paid any attention about collecting page rank, but at the moment, I have a following situation.

I have and old site (3+ years) and PR5. I built a seperate page and all links are going into it, but not from it (i mean, no links out of it). In finall, I get a PR4 for that page.

So, If I am linking from this page to some other (other domain) page, what PR improvement I could exspect to be passed?

Btw, does it matter to what PR site I am linking to, for example, to PR2 or to PR6 page? Do they will be treated as well? I mean, does the same value of page rank will be passed around or maybe the PR is sort of Maslow Pyramid, where the first levels comes easy and the every next requires more and more incoming sources?

Would be glad to hear your experience and knowledge ! Thanks a lot!

It depends on how many outgoing links in total come from that page -- basically the PR4 (or some portion of it) is distributed evenly among the pages that page links to.

No.

That's pretty much the way it works, yes.

Well, minstrel,
Idea is to have a single page, say - add.html.

Statistic on add.html
Incoming links: 30
PageRank: PR4
Outgoing links: 1 to new domain with PR0

so, could you eastimate power of this single link ?

would it be PR2? PR3? PR4?

If I combine 2 links from diferent domains that are optimized in this way? can I exspect same results, I mean, PR3 form one site and PR3 from other site, in total, giving PR6?

There are a number of people on various forums who have published tables which estimate the number of links with various PR values required to boost your page to a certain PR.

I have to admit I haven't bothered to read them, first, because much of it is speculation since only Google really knows what Google does, second, because I don't care that much about PR to begin with, and, third, because I find it monumentally boring.

If you insist on trying to make these calculations, you'll find threads at various SEO forums on the topic (maybe even here for all I know).

One of the best calculators for understanding PageRank interpretation IMO is http://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank_calculator.php

Takes a little getting use to, but play with it for an hour and you'll be hooked...unfortunately. :)
