Default Questions about Google Links...

Could someone explain to me what the difference is between:

Find web pages that link to...

and

Find web pages that contain the term...

My website www.logogolfproducts.com has 6 pages that "link to" listed in Google, although I have about 30 links that I have set up that are currently linked back to my page.

If you look up the "contain the term" for www.logogolfproducts.com you will see 1570 listings that contain my website, most of which are links back to my site.

How the heck does this work? I get a bunch of links and it only sees a handful in 1 section, but 1500+ in the other.

Does this not make sense to anyone else?

The 'contain term' means any page that has that word in it
So in your case, it could be a an actual link or it could have been a page referencing you without actually linking to you plus the pages that are linking to you

the 'link to' or backlinks will only show pages that have a pr of 4 or higher.

Cyanide, I appreciate your reply.

I pose this to you then. In "contains" the 5th one down is a link from Golfhelp.com which has a pagerank of 6/10 yet it isn't listed. And the 7th one is the google directory which isn't listed either.

Is the relevant pagerank I would be looking for based on the website as a whole (homepage) or the individiual page linking to me (index.htm)?

Hi thecrane:

Yes that's a good question.
I actually did notice that.

Well I believe it's individual pages.
Are these links fairly new ? It could very well be that Google just hasn't gotten around to it.
unless... there are other factors at work here (opening the door for someone else's input)

PageRank is page-specific. Each page has it's own individual PR calculated by Google's PageRank algorithm based upon the quantity and quality of the inbound links to that specific page only.

The PR of individual pages on a website can vary widely depending on the site's internal linking structure and the inbound links to each page.
