Default Google Spam

I recently was called about a business oportunity called True Wealth Today. As an avid researcher I immediately Googled the program and clicked on the first non-sponsored result.

The page I found was nothing but spider food, which must of been computer generated. this is the first time I've actually seen this type of page. I knew they were out there, but just figured that they redirected to a page for humans to read. Here is the address "http://www.financialfreedom-online.net/true_wealth_today.html". I emailed Google to alert them.

Has anyone else come across many of these pages? What kind of program produces this junk? Does someone who usees these think searchers will actually click through to the rest of the site. This is certainly an example of Black Hat SEO!

Default Spam

The major SE's all try to minimize the effect redirection, hijacking, cloaking, etc. have on their SERPs. As you saw, they aren't perfect at it.

There are several techniques, services, and programs that can produce the effect you saw.

You pretty much did all you can do. Did you email google, or use their Spam Report?

Default Thanks

I used the "Dissatisfied? Help us improve" link at the bottom of the SERP page. I couldn't remember the spam report link, but I appreciate your providing it, as I just bookmarked it.

I find it funny that I do allot of research on the net. Between working on my Bachlors degree, work and for my own sites, I mean a whole lot of researching. Yet, this is the first time I've been compelled to report a site for blatent spam. I've seen many spammy techniques, but that page just blew me away!

Before you email, I think google must already get hundreds of emails about that site, if not thousands. Google is not perfect. They will deal with it. But it will take time, months even years. By the time they can deal with it, a new spam technique has been born.

atimmins,

Boy...you found a good example of keyword loading there! I haven't seen one quite like that either!

Forgive my newbie confusion....Just because you found one, why do you have to report it? Serious inquiry here. Is there a benefit to you as a webmaster/businessman to report sites that are trying to scam with loaded keywords, when that site is not directly in competition with you?

Default Welcome Bucker

I did not report the site as a webmaster or businessman. I reported it as a Google user who was extremly dissatisfied with the results provided. Could you imagine if everytime you attempted to perform research on a topic you had to wade through such giberish?

I suppose I felt I was helping Google become a better search engine by reporting and hopefully eliminating such a SERP. I would also hope that anyone who came across such a listing would take the time to report it. It just makes for a better search experience which in the end is part of what a good SEO does on a daily basis.

Default Ahh satisfaction!

Well I wanted to make a quick update to this post. I was checking with Google every couple days when I originally posted about these SERP's. Of course as with many things in life I then spaced it until today when something jogged my memory.

I just ran the same querry on Google today. To my satisfaction they have indeed removed the above refferenced site from the SERP's. I feel vindicated, and proud that a search giant like Google took the time to listen to little old me! And, it only took somewhere between a week and two weeks, not bad at all big "G"!

Thanks for all your replys,

Andy
