Google twice as large, Alexa update once in 2 days ??
Hello,
Does anyone noticed that since google upgraded its network, Alexa is only updating once in 2 or 3 days. ??
This would be logical I think to stay parallel with google.
normally the Alexa rank measuring from 3 months ago, I assume that the google cycle did take 3 months , so logical it would be that alexa now going to measure from 6 month ago.
What do you think ?

Which part of Alexa? - the screen shots?, the toolbar?, the backlinks?, the ?
If you mean the traffic rank on the toolbar, its always been updated every few days.

Alexa
Till 2 months back Alexa updated there graphics daily, Only last 2 months the graphics only update once in 2 or 3 days, I think this is because of the google index is twice as big, does anybody also noticed this ?
If this is so then I expect that the big amount of visitors drop down of 2 months ago will be over in 4 months, and then the visitors amount will be back to normal like it was 3 months ago.
what do you think ?

Alexa graphic updates and the bogus Alexa traffic updates have nothing to do with the size of the Google index.

cbp,
Can you use the Alexia traffic to compare one site to another or is it all over the map?
I know the actual rank is way out there. I have a pretty good traffic rank from Alexia and I'm dying on the vine.

Hi cbp,
I believe you when you say they are crap.
But I don't have there tool bar. I have alink popularity program that finds back links and the Alexia traffic rating.

We have had numerous threads on the Alexa rankings. They are crap, rubbish and meaningless and are not worth paying any attention to.
Here is a couple of the threads:

Microsoft DID NOT build it in Internet Explorer. Alexa built it to install in Internet explorer - some call that spyware.

Alexa
"I think this is because of the google index is twice as big, does anybody also noticed this ?
"
So nobody have noticed it ? then I think its not correct and I am sleeping or something.
But I still think its changed because of the bigger google index.
Even when its crap as the moderator is saying.

I don't think anyone is following what you are saying.
There is no way there can be a relationship between the size of the Google index and Alexa rankings. How do you think they are related?

how related
Because Google doubled there total of indexed pages, I mean if Google is twice as big that does not mean the internet is suddenly twice as big, only the amount of pages in the index is doubled.
And that mean spiders/crawlers will do twice as long to crawl the internet as they did 2 months ago.
But the amount of websites is still the same as 2 months ago(probable more, but not doubled)
So all search engines have to adapt there crawler strategie maybe they add more spiders and crawlers. and so also alexa have to change there strategie.
Otherwise there graphics will be totally not correct.

Why would Alexa or any other search engine have to change their strategy if Google doubles the size of its index? The Alexa crawler and the crawlers from other search engines are totally different crawlers and have nothing to do with Google what-so-ever.
