Default Allowing Google Cache

Currently my site doesn't allow Google to cache the pages. This seemed to have been a decision by the previous SEO folks - a few years ago. Any opinions on whether disallowing the Google cache helps with SEO?

Whether or not Google caches your pages has nothing to do with rankings.

There are plenty of good reasons for not allowing the search engines to cache your pages. If you have prices on your website I wouldn't allow them to cache your pages (i.e., if you update your prices then the cache could have a different price).

I have some pages that I allow Search Engines to cache & others, that change a lot, that I do not.

bhartzer is correct when he says it has no effect on your rankings.

I disagree - I believe it has some type of effect,, although I have no evidence of this - I believe it should be inerpreted differently...

I really can't see who would want to disallow a cache and for what reasons....

Lets here some good reasons for not letting Google cache your site - besides the prices example....

There's something that doesn't seem right about a disallow command.....

But I have seen people use - index follow - nocache

never understood why???
