They have not updated what they show publically via the toolbar for almost 2 months. They appear to update internally frequently.

The naxt toolbar update is expected early January. The popular belief is that G has moved to quarterly updates.

Is there any tool that will allow us to see Google's internal page rank rather than the Toolbar rank?

Default Directory

The PR seen in the Google Directory is sometimes different than what is displayed in the toolbar.

This will give you something else to look at, but it is no more or less useful (or accurate) than what the toolbar displays.

There is alot of difficulty figuring out the current pagerank for a website these days.

The Google directory is showing PR that seems to be a bit lower than the Actual PR...

It does seem like they are doing an internal update....

I really don't know what Google's plan is with pagerank, but I have noticed they are not referencing it much on their site and "take the tour" of the toolbar pages...

Maybe. Maybe not. The problem is that no one except Google knows what "Actual PR" is. We can have a pretty good idea what it isn't: for example, not the Toolbar PR, since that's out of date, and probably not the Directory PR either, since that also seems to bounce around and/or lag.

I keep seeing posts suggesting this and I never know what they mean -- what is it that suggests to you that anything unusual is going on? I have no doubt anymore that Google is updating its database on an ongoing basis, though...

They didn't change this line yet:

"We update our index about once a month. Each time we update our database of web pages, our index invariably shifts: We find new sites, we lose some sites, and sites ranking may change. Your rank naturally will be affected by changes in the ranking of other sites."
