Default Google Backlinks

Having obeyed the advice and worked hard over a period of time to build my links with other sites I now have around 20-30 sites with links to mine. I have also linked from my other three owned sites. Now my problem is that checking backlinks on Google only 7 links show including one from Webproworld(!) one unknown from lycos and five from minor pages of my own sites (not even the homepages). My other sites produce similar results. So why do the links I value most not show whereas links from minor pages of my own (unrelated) sites do?

Not much help really. My point is that if you are going to have an option to look at backlinks why show five random links from just one site rather than a cross section. I can appreciate Google may not show all links but why not a cross-section. Otherwise why bother with the facility as the results are going to be irrelevant.
In my case the links from my own sites show up whereas NONE of the others I have cultivated show at all. As my ranking is excellent in MSN and YAHOO but poor in Google linking is obviously my weak point. Particularly annoying when the Googlebot is all over my sites like a rash every day!

Precisely. Sometimes the cross-section Google shows is zero.

You might try this... Take a string of text from your link description, unique to your description, and do a search for that entire string within "quotes". This will show you everywhere Google has indexed it. What "value" does Google place on it? I'm not sure anyone can answer that question.

Many of us have said exactly the same thing.
