On GoogleBot's Visits

My website, Asia Hotel Bookings, is fairly new. I've done and am still doing reciprocal links, improving content, etc.(the goal is of course to be on the first page of search engines).

Anyway, I've noticed lately that GoogleBot has been visiting my website almost every 2 days (very flattered, I have to say).

My question is, we update our website maybe once a week or once every two weeks. Considering that googlebot visits every two days, would he/she suddenly say to him/her self (this robot of a thing!), "hey Asia Hotel Bookings, you're a waste of my time. I think i'll visit you once a month coz' you don't update your website as often as I visit you anyway."

Just wondering if the Reinforcement Theory of human behavior has been programmed into GoogleBot's system as well.

There are two ways that I've found to keep Googlebot happy and visiting frequently:

1 - Raise your PageRank by getting lots of links and adding lots of quality content pages. Higher PR pages get crawled more often than low PR pages.

2 - Keep your content fresh, especially on your home page. I change my home page in some way almost every day. It keeps the bot interested (and my users coming back as well).

I can't remember the last time that Googlebot failed to vist at least a few pages on my site every day in between the deep crawls.

The probable reason that goog is actually visiting so often is because it is comming in from the outside links, not because you are updating so much, if that's what you're asking.

One of the reasons sites lose ranking, is for lack of any updating. You will probably get visited about the same, even after most of the work is done, but you should always do something at least once a month (2 weeks is better), even if it's just trival, so the ses see changes have been made. That's about all it takes.

I change my site every day seven days a week. There just seems to alawys be something I want to change

LOL... with women, usually that's some man they know :-)

Would you be willing to have a chat with my 12 year old son? Getting him to change his shirt, his socks, or even his underwear is quite a challenge...

And then there's Matauri who seems to feel a need to change her picture twice a month, n'est-ce pas, Cindy? :-)

No I want do that but I think it is Brittany that has to change the pictures I will make sure to let her know whos idea it was.

I have an idea: Janeth and minstrel can swap pictures and we'll see how long it takes some one to notice.

LOL... actually, using just the head shots, put a beard on Janeth and mess up her hair a bit and she'd resemble me 20 years ago in my George Harrison phase...

Hmmm... I forgot we weren't in The Break Room... I think I'm supposed to be acting responsibly to bring this thread back on track, and I had to go back to find out what that track was, but before Janeth started swapping pictures it was about the frequency of Googlebot visits.

Hi Jerry,
The best way is to ignore Google and start working on links. Google can find you sight by the links to your site on other web sites.

Although there is a rumor that a picture of rlrouse in a blonde wig and lip stick will get them coming around often also.

So, if I am understanding youcorrectly is that I need to ask other sites to have a link to http://www.heritagehonda.net ?

Hi Jerry,
You need to exchange links.

Good quality sites will already have a high ranking in Google. So what you would do is type in one of your key words for example say you build websites you could type in web design. This will give you a list of all the web design companies listed in Google. Now pick out the top ten and type in their address with link: in front of it.
For example link:www.geeksonsteroids.com this will give you a list of all the sites that are linking to that company.

Now you know these people will exchange links because they have already given your competition a link. So now take a look at their site and see if it is one you would like to link to. Then send them a letter something like this.

I was just visiting your site and found it to be a wonderful site. I also found the content both valuable and enjoyable. My site visitors would appreciate your content as I think your would appreciate mine. My site is http://www.geeksonsteroids.com and we build websites. If you would add a link to my site http://www.geeksonsteroids.com building custom websites. We would love to add a link back to your site.

Now some other people probley have better ways of doing this but this is a good way to start.
