I would like input on my layout i created for the key term "Pool Trick Shots": It is designed to be user friendly and Google-happy. If you were a single minded, stereotypical googlebot, what would you think...
------------------------------------------- Title of Page: Pool Trick Shots for Beginners to Experts Introduction Paragraph Titled “Pool Trick Shots” w/ an <h1> 5% of the weight used here. The other 3% will be distributed in the descriptions for the sets of shots. All other words (non pool trick shots)used should total around 1%. PIC1 [ Trick Shot A Trick Shot B Trick Shot C A description of the first set of Trick Shots- ] PIC2 [ Trick Shot F Trick Shot G Trick Shot H Description of the first set of Trick Shots ] ETC.... Pics Will Contain Alt and Name Tags With "Pool Trick Shots" used in them, while links will include /pool-trick-shots/ in their URL. ------------------------------------------- Will the googlebot throw up after seeing "pool trick shots" or will it like the use of my keyword throughout the page? I know incoming links to this page are critical but my first concern is that this layout does NOT fit into the category of OVEROPTIMISED. All comments are encouraged! |

IMHO, Far to tricky for SEO.... ;o)
First consider using the H3 tag instead of H1. I have found my pages rank higher for phrases using the h3 tag over the h1 and h2 tag. (IMHO due to tag abuse) Use trick shot (or you primary key phrase) twice in the first three Alt images. Link only one of your first three images to a trick shot page, remove the other "Tricky" catch phrases and make a nice sentence describing the picture and the trick shot it represents. Do not use "Tick Shot" on every image throughout the page. No more than 4 times total for all Alt images and no more than once for the first 3 images. In otherwords, you want a 3/1/3 ratio or not more than a 4/1/4 in total alt using your primary key phrase. You can use combinations (i.e. check out this "goober shot") but watch your keyphrase combination ratios. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for "Alt" spam penalties. The flow of the page and theme should be pool trick shots. You do not need a heavy SEO spamming techniques to accomplish this. Your in bound links and internal links will support your theme of "Pool Trick Shots" or "Trick Shots for Pool Players" etc etc. I would suggest a KW Presence throughout the site of 93.8%, Throughout the site titles of 93.8% and Throughout the Meta Descriptions of 93.8%. In Addition, your primary KW phrase should not exceed 75% site wide in the BODY. I would recommend not more than 20% weight or 4 Total per page of text in links including your image links. You total body weight should be based upon what you competition is getting away with, however, don't put to much weight into this. Make it a nice readable quality content page using your primary and secondary phrases. If you want a percentage maybe 6.5% on primary and 1 to 4% on focus secondary for the home page and the reverse on secondary pages. You title of each page is important and Should reflect what is on the page. ie "Goober Pool Trick Shot" Your description again should be unique for each page and reflect what is on the page. Your i/b links are very important and must support your theme. Don't just link your main home page. Deep link your site. In otherwords if you have a page about "goober pool trick shots" you want to establish inbound links to http://www.myspecialsite.com/goober_...ick_shots.html using the description standard linking techniques. I recommend building a paragraph and placing the link within the paragraph. This is most effective way to maintain stability in the serp results and add value to your inbound link. Remember, SEO is not an exact science unless you know the formula used (which I don't). On page optimization should be based on what your competition is getting away with. However, I always base it on the toughest engine, google. All of this is IMHO and Hope this helped and I didn't confuse the matter for you.

Thanks for taking the time to give your full opinion! To give you a little backgroud of what i am trying to do with this page: I am trying to draw people searching on the web to my site by indirect advertisement. We sale pool tables, pool cues, etc.
I am trying to make this page rank well so i can draw in people who are not exactly looking to buy anything. Once they get to this part on the Site, they will see other links for pool tables, pool cues etc. I will take all of your advice into consideration when creating my pool site! Can you take a look at our MAIN site and let me know what you think? We rank in the top 5 for over 6 keywords, but i would like to rank 1st in a few. You should see the sites that come up before mine in google... i have no CLUE why my site is not 1st- Maybe you will see something i dont- derek@llfitness.com http://www.massageking.com KW=Massage Tables, Massage Accessories, Massage Cds, Massage Table, Massage Supplies Thanks for help |
