Default What can we learn from this...

Type "dri wash" in the GG toolbar notice the top 2 positions.

Now, go over to Yahoo, and enter the same search term.

The #1 postion is the same on both GG and Y, however, the #2 position on GG is nowhere to be found on Y.

My site is listed third on Yahoo, but 41st on GG.

Somehow, the #1 position is doing everything right for both G an Y, but the number 2 guy is doing the right thing for G only.

Can anyone tell me what the "right thing" may be? It's definitely not IBL, because I have more than both sites put together.

Google favors inbound links to sites from other sites.

Yahoo! favors links and a lot of on-page optimization.

I haven't looked at it, but I would gather that the number one ranking page has both inbound links and good on-page optimization.

The #1 site also has the exact keywords in the URL.

So does mine, and so does #2 in G - doesn't seem to matter.

Still not making sense. The only common thread between the two things you say are IBL. From what you say, it should harder to rank higher in Yahoo, but that's not the case. Once more, my site has nearly an order of magnitude more relateed links than either #1 or #2 on G.

My main question is about the #2 site on G (not mine) as far as trying to learn something. HE's doing something right in G but not on Y. What is it?
