Default Google Directory

A while back, Google reverted to an earlier version of the directory, which I assumed was the result of servers being down, or some technical reason, but they have stayed with the old version. No complaints (I prefer the old version) but I doubt Google is doing this just to be nice. Any thoughts?

Also, twice in the past month, about 8:00pm central time, Google changed the algo so my site ranked #1 in SERPS, but in the morning, everything was back to normal (no, I was not drinking or smoking anything).

Not true.

The update that Jacob is referring to occured on or around 19 October - it was then reversed to a previous version on or around 29 October that was updated from DMOZ RDF dump about 6-7 weeks prior to that.

The current version of the Google Directory is from the DMOZ RDF dump of around mid/late-August (+/- a week or so)... the previous version they had was from the DMOZ dump of early October ... for some reason they have changed to the older version.

If you "checked for my updates in that 10 days timeframe many times and they never happend in the World/Norsk/(Norway) part of Google directory", then that is because, as I said above "it was then reversed to a previous version". I did not say it reverted to a version of 29th Oct, it reverted to an earlier version on 29th Oct.

Mid-august is not "ages" ago. .... October is even more recent.

Default Good

They can leave it there forever as far as I am concerned, but I doubt that I will be so lucky.

The GOOGLE directory is in a constant state of flux. How could anyone think it hasn't changed in a while? SERPs vaselate all over the place daily. I don't believe there is a time that I can go and check the same keyphrases and get the same results, 30 minutes later, most of the times.

They don't spyder 8 billion Sites without it being a constant SERP mill!
