How Frequently do you "Vanity Search" for information about YOURSELF on Google?
|
Not daily, but fairly often I find it useful to search for my own name because it gives me a good idea of who has linked in or just simply scraped my sites. However, I run a site that allows people to post their own profiles, and whilst half of the hits are targetted to the subject, the other half seem to be from people just typing in their own names or those of people they know.
I believe that the various names of non-famous people are in fact very common and frequent search terms. The only trouble is knowing what to do with this traffic when it arrives. Are these people egosurfing, looking for an old flame, hunting relatives, or something else entirely?
