Daily. Since I constantly submit artcles to web resources & my URLs to web indexes, I check Google & other search engines for my link popularity starting each morning with this program:

Cheers!

Do you shower before or after googling yourself?

Seriously though, I do regularly check on links to the website etc. but my name is as common as they come, so there is not much point in looking for it. There are hundreds of them running around!

Not daily, but fairly often I find it useful to search for my own name because it gives me a good idea of who has linked in or just simply scraped my sites. However, I run a site that allows people to post their own profiles, and whilst half of the hits are targetted to the subject, the other half seem to be from people just typing in their own names or those of people they know.

I believe that the various names of non-famous people are in fact very common and frequent search terms. The only trouble is knowing what to do with this traffic when it arrives. Are these people egosurfing, looking for an old flame, hunting relatives, or something else entirely?
