How can you check if a site is being penalised by Google?

Also is there somewhere you can check to see if a site is being currently sandboxed by Google?

Ive heard that there are things you can do to get your site straight in to the ratings and out of the sandbox, does anyone have any tips on this?

When there are lots of links to a site and it is not in the Google index = penalty

No.

Patience. Not everyone agrees that there is a 'sandbox'. Google have denied it. Most case of alleged sandboxing I have looked at are just sites that rank poorly.
