Hello, I was wondering if anyone here has any similiar Google situations.

Our industry is nutritional supplements. Our company is Nutrition Discounters and we are new to the SEO world. In our business, getting our product's keywords in the Top 20 for Google is very important since ours is a very competitive landscape.

One of our competitors- BodyBuilding.com - seems to have a stranglehold on literally every supplement product/term on the market. If you type in the name of a product they are always listed as either: number 1; on the first page; or at least the second page. EVERY TIME! Whenever a new product comes out they are always #1 as well.

Take a look for yourself. Type in the following keywords in Google:

100% whey protein
designer protein
myoplex carb sense
detour bars

Also, take a look at their homepage. It's just spam, not too user-friendly. But it's worked for them. This company also made numerous (useless) web sites pointing to their domain name or product pages to help increase Page Rank.



Anyone have similar experiences? Thanks for reading.

It's a competitive area, but not one that can't be beat--you'll just need a bigger pocketbook than them or a really good SEO.

They currently have a PR6 and only about 76 off-site backlinks. That shouldn't be too hard to beat.

You'll need good content, more than 76 links, and a higher PR to do it.

Just a simple suggestion - optimize your code! Looking
at the source right now, it looks like it was generated
off of some wysiwyg program, and can be cleaned up considerably.
