Default SEO question

Hi,

I'm considering purchase of WebPosition Gold and I'm wondering if it might be benefitial in my website's case. Let me present the scenario for you all so that I can get your opinions.

I have a gift basket website and there's an over abundance of these sites on the net, making it very difficult to obtain high rankings in the key terms, such as "gift baskets". I've been targeting niche words instead, but I don't know that I'm optimizing well enough on my own, for these terms.

I have a Google PR of 5 on just about every page of my site and I think I have a little more than 350 backlinks showing up when I check backlinks on Google.

Could I benefit from WebPosition gold or is it a waste of time?

Thank you for any input.

Quality Guidelines on the Google Webmaster Site:
http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html

“Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.”

I think that it might help you in optmizing your pages, but it isn't needed for submitting your site to google. Also Google frowns upon using the submitter, but I don't think that they penalize you for it. What would stop webmasters from spamming google with their competitor website and knocking down their competitors ranking for their own benefit?

Default what do you want it to do?

Webposition Gold is a fine product for checking your rankings but I would never count on any software to actually help you with your rankings.

If you're thinking of buying it just to quickly check your rankings for various keywords then it's definitely handy but if you're hoping that it's advice will help you get higher rankings you'd be better to hire a professional with a proven record than to use software.

But that's jsut my opinion.

Just reread that post, should have previewed before sending.

Default webposition gold

I have been using webposition gold for more than 2 years. I do understand that knowledge comes to experianced SEO's before it comes to this software, if ever. However, I beleive, their Page Critics as well as Reporter has provided me much useful infomation over the years. Actually I have had many top 10 positionings for main keywords over the years (but not anymore). Now, I have to get more inbound links before trying to optimize again.

I am positive that a proffesional SEO would be a better critics to my newly made webpages, but where do you find that at an affordable price?

My suggestion is to use WPG and try to come here to WPW to find additional information.

Since my boss is paying for this software I want to keep it as a tool, as I do use it :)

Any better tools on the market?

There is a great free tool that utilizes more features than WebPosition Gold or any other software. It reasons, thinks, decides, listens, and can understand cause & effect. This tool never has to be upgraded as search engines and algorithms change. This tool is called "Your Brain". Use it or lose it. Depending on software to make your mind up for you is lazy and non productive. If everyone used the same pattern of producing websites with no innovative ideas then we could simply call it "WebPosition Clone" . Dare to be different and use what God gave you. Of course visiting the forums here at WPW to feed that new tool of yours wouldn't hurt either.

So use "WebPosition Clone" or use your "Your Brain: Version Unlimited"

Unfortunately I am not a fulltime webdeveloper, but more overlooking various projects. Your comments not very accurate. As mentioned, without WPG I would never have hit of in the field of SEO at all. However, I would like to push it a level, and do understand there are other and better ways. My reply was trying to tell "April98" that indeed it might be a good start, but that there are other sources she should concider in the same time.

This "use your brain" comment I have read so many times over and over. It's loosing it's edge! I would say, - broaden your mind. Why invent the wheel when it's already invented,,,,?

Sorry "I am Nick",

Although I used your quote it wasn't directed towards you intentionally. I left your name out of the quote for that very reason. Again I apologize if it seemed personal.

When I began Seo I read a informative article at ZDNET, which isn't available any longer. It explained every aspect of what I needed to know to get started. I took what I thought was true and left what I thought I didn't need and then developed my skills from there. I did the same as many and checked out programs to make the job easier. In the end the programs were uninstalled because they never helped me get as far as the knowledge I had in myself.
