Google is stuck on the UK

With all due respect to my British cousins I am seeing a very devious trend in Google searches. Many searches for products or services here in the US are coming up with UK companies which is useless when one is trying to buy something. I know that if I put a -UK it will eliminate the problem but has the engine gone bonkers or is it "putting us on" as the brits say. This does not occur with other se's nor did it occur with google until recently. A good example is enter any product you might want to buy, canon printer for example and the first page is loaded with UK companies. Now one important question is why in the US do the UK listings get first place and why isnt there the option US only. I solved it by switching to Fast.
