checking Ranking through software if how much safe?

Hi,

I am working on two sites and both sites ranked very well in the google. I never used any software for SEO process. I am just using IBP software to check the ranking on different keyword phrases to safe my time.

Is this effect my rankings? Because when you check google guidelines, they clearly said that they don't like any automated query.

Should I continue with that software or not? Please guide me.

The only problem I could see in using a software program is if you enter your website address as a query.
Hmm, what a cruel way to hurt a competitor. It just doesn't seem right does it? Somehow I think it might be more of a scare tactic but why take the chance.

To use software to query for keywords wouldn't have any connection to hurt a website in anyway.
