I have a strange experience with google. While my website (www.datigator.com) was under development, it had almost no text on it, and so it didn't show up in google, except by its URL with no further description. Now that the site has gone live and has loads of keywords and descriptions attached to it, I was hoping google would reindex the site. On August 31, googlebot came by and indexed the site, and after that, when you looked for datigator, you got both the site and a couple of directories to which I had submitted it. But today I checked again, and everything is back to the pre-August 31 status - i.e., only the URL appears with no description. Also, the directory links that appeared post-August 31 are all gone.
Is there something wrong with the google database? Or does this mean that the website got banned (it still shows up by its URL)? For what reason would it have gotten banned? Should I assume it will come up again the next time google bot stops by? I don't really know what to do. Thanks for any insights you guys might have. Larry |

There's text scarcity.
All I could see is more and more javascript. More HTML codes.. Where's the text? No wonder, G is finding trouble text in your page. BTW, your site is not banned. It is just that G is not able to find any meaningful content at the top of your homepage. Give it some more time. |

Thanks. I moved a lot of the javascript to a separate file, so hopefully that helps. But I still suspect there may have been a glitch in Google's data gathering process. All links to my site registered on August 31 suddenly disappeared. Now they are gradually coming back. Let's see how it goes... Thanks again!

Here is one of several pages that let you see what your page might look like to a search spider. This one attempts to display a file as it would look in the lynx browser.
Google recommends using lynx to check indexable text which is a pretty good recommendation. |
