Ads by Goooooogle

We're currently running a test with new branding features on Google ads. You may notice some of your pages displaying 'Ads by Goooooogle' ad units. We welcome your feedback on this new look, and we'll be analyzing the results of this test over the next while.
I feedback that its goooooooofy.

It looks toooooootally unprofessional. Seriously though, it’s one of the stupidest things I have ever seen.

Did Google warn anyone about this change before it happened? I don't really like the idea that they can change part of the content of my sites (their ads) completely without warning. This is a highly unlikely scenario, but what if they went crazy and started putting adult content in there? Would they have to warn anyone? Aside from the silly branding tactics they are trying out by this, I don't like it for content security purposes. Thoughts? What does the AdSense license agreement say about this?

It's stupid, and here's why:

When I first saw it, I was wondering, if the site was hacked or if it was really Google. A successful company should never change its branding. Remember New Coke? I can't believe they went with Coke 2, another stupid idea that will last until the next diet fad.

As far as getting my attention, yes, but it distracted me from even looking at the ads. Besides, I won't click on something that looks phoney.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I was just about to say how stooooopid that looks, and tell G my opinion of it, when I checked my CTR at AdSense.

If it keeps on going like it did today, I guess it's oooooookay after all. (Even though I think it looks dumb as rocks.)

Well, so much for the GOOGLE acronymn I came up with yesterday:

Great
Omniscient
One
Gives
Linkage
Egress (could also be Excess, which would appear to be the case with all those ooooo's now ;)

I have a hunch there might be a lot of clicks on the new goooogle ads, simply because people might want to see if it works. After all, it does look 'broke', like someone hacked it, as Dr. Tandem said.

I agree with the Dr.

To change your forumula to compete with those trailing you is unwise.

It may get attention, but probably not the kind of attention some web designers want on their site.

Default I don't like it.

I for one don't like the Gooooooogle. It annoys me. I have written our Adwords Rep to ask him what the scoop is on this. I have threatened to pull the plug on our content-based ads (which could cost Google $1M / year from us alone), so I imagine I will hear something soon.

Keep you posted.
