Default Dynamic URL AND Google

HiGuys,
I am always very concerned about dynamic URL B'caz i am a web developer too and always try to use dynamic contents, now i get this info that

?, &, %, +, =, $, cgi-bin, .cgi

Most search engines will not list URLs that contain any of the elements above because they consider them to be dynamic URLs. In their view, dynamic URLs generally change content too frequently and/or contain duplicate content that they do not want to list multiple times.

Now is this statement correct for google too, or is this a general statement??? plz help me

Thanks

Hi asimkhaliq,
you have half of the truth here.

Search engine do not have an issue with listing such URLs. They do not care about it. Case in point.

However, they have a hard time finding them. If you piece the dynamic content together from query input in a form, how is the search engine supposed to guess the myriad of possible queries? But if you have static links from pages to the dynamic content, then the spiders of the search engines will find it eventually and also index it and list it in their search results.

Very true. They don't like dynamic urls as much, but they will spider them if given a proper link. Most of my site pages have the ? in the url, and google has spidered them.

If you use sessions, Google will keep indexing the same pages with different sessions each visit..... Dynamic pages are okay if they do not use sessions (i.e index.php?sid=9674347) and have a limited options (i.e index.php?cat=5&list=flat)

So eliminate sessions and all will be okay

Dynamic URL's are not a problem as long as you keep them short. If the get too long then you may run into problems. It's probably the same problem you see when you send long url's in an email when the get to the second line some tend to break. Just an observartion.

A spider can often be too "heavy" for a dynamic site and causes it to crash. Therefore a dynamic site will not be spidered all at once...

For Example:
Page 1 links to page 2
page 2 links to page 3
Page 3 links to page 4
Page 4 links to page 5
page 5 links to page 6
etc
etc

The bot will pick up pages 1 and 2. Then the next time it comes back it starts from where it left off (page 2) and goes from there. And so on and so on.
Hence if your site is 8 levels deep. It will take awhile for the bot to fully find all your juicy content. And even longer still for the engines to rank you.

Precisely why some dynamic sites are not fully indexed.
