No Page Rank Update for 67 Days and Counting
According to this Page Rank Update List, Google hasn't updated PR for 67 days - the longest timeframe since 2000. What's up with this?

Theres is nothing up. They have apprently updated frequently internally and the search results have been affected on a regular basis. There certainly is speculation that they may only update the public available PR quarterly from now on
BTW - do you think we should ban these "when is the next update" type threads?

You can't ban it. Make a Sticky out of it, then it stays in one place and there will only be one thread on it instead of 1700000000000000000000000000!

PageRank - let the public update come!
It is incredible! It seems to me that I have become addicted to the tiny green bar somewhere on my display. Since we have decided to change our URLs and 301 redirect the old ones to the new ones, there was no public update. So now, only the index page has PR and the rest is PR0. The same with our links page what makes it difficult to find good partners to exchange links. Checking if anything moved is almost the first thing (after e-amil) I start and end the day with.
And this is the most strange point here. Many webmasters we offer links exchange reject it stating that our lack of PR is the reason. And no one cares that PR is just one of multiple factors (definitely not the most important one) which was only made extremely visible to attract our eyes. Regular SEs user does not even know what PageRank is and (probably) prefers not to know.
So, although PR is not as important as many suppose it is, let the public update come and let me feel better! It really sucks when only your index page has any PR...
cheers,
wlodi

People should read the stickys once in a while, then answers to questions like this would be seen...... Just lazyness to keep starting new threads......

I don't think we should ban them. I just found a cool resource that shows the past PR updates. I also learned that PR updates may only happen quarterly from now on. Wouldn't have learned these if PR update threads were banned.

PR Update
I understand that Google updates pages continuously, but I created a links page for reciprocal linking partners after the last update. Nobody will exchange links with a PR0, even though it's really not a PR0.

I disagree. All sites and pages start at PR0. A site wishing to exchange links should be less concerned with your page rank and more concerned with the content you offer, relevancy, site layout and functionality in general.

I suppose it depends on what your strat is for links, wether you are adding them for content and linked in buisness, or for PR alone.

It all depends on why they're PR0, and it's usually very easy to determine the reason.

I'll exchange with a pr0
I did a little experiment a while back, the ranking of links you link to is alot less significant then most people think. Linking to a pr0 believe it or not, does have a positive effect.
It is almost as if google says, this guy is willing to help out a new site so that site must be a friendly.
The only links you will pay a penalty for is a site that for some reason or another takes a nose dive in the rankings. In that case it is as if google penalizes a site, and that site drags down as many others as it can.
Let us not forget that the purpose of linking to sites is to increase your users experience, your link partners will gain exposure and so will you. The fact that linking has proven to increase your search engine indexed value, is an added benifit.
Trust me, everything you can possibly do to increase your pages rankings, has been thought of and contemplated by team google.

Why ban them? You could try not viewing/responding to them if they irritate you.
Obviously, people like to talk about PR updates and backlinks, and judging the response to most of the posts, a lot of other people like to put in their 2cents too!

PR0 could be PR7 tomorrow, so linking to PR0 pages could be beneficial in the long run.

Who thinks Google is going to update Labor Day weekend?
So...all you SEO and non- SEO experts out there...do you think Google is going to be doing an update Labor Day weekend? Google has been notorious for updating on holiday weekends so no reason to assume they are not this time.

This is the best line in the thread. Like I said earlier, it all depends on why the page is sitting at PR0.

Right. I've seen some sites drop from PR 7 to 0 this morning only to bounce back in the last hour or so to PR 7 again. Sites could be a PR 0 because of poor optimizing or because of an update in process.

google just updated. You won't see a PR update until possibly the next update.... Or who knows.. maybe you will never see an update. Point is... nobody knows what google is up to. So stop worrying about PR and stick to optimizing you site.

Whilst I don't think that PR is overated, I do now believe it is not as important to high rankings as it perhaps once was.
My site has been PR 6 for the whole year, it has not changed at all, but a search for my most important keyword, has gone from position 150 to position 9 in Google. This has taken 4 months.
As mentioned, the site's PR hasn't changed but I have done some on page optimization but have mainly concentreated on content. I have added hundreds of new relevant information pages to the website over the past 4 months. (about 800 in all)
I have done some linking, but the main focus of creating new, relevant information pages is now paying dividends with the visitor traffic having doubled over this period.
My point is that if you are prepared to sit down create unique, relevant content, you will be rewarded by Google.
I watch Google every day now, but pay very little attention to that green bar.
I attented the SES conference in New York earlier this year and virtually speaker there kept on talking about content, content, content and advised us to forget about PR and concentrate on content.
I am so happy I listened to them now.
