Default Google Update might be coming!

I just checked my links (not backlinks) and i've gained 700 more. Usually this means a update is on it's way when they jump by such a big number. FINGERS ARE CROSSED :)

I still haven't seen anything abnormal. But, I hope your right, its been a long time.

Not that the update really matters, but seeing PR go up just makes you feel better about yourself, he he....

I agree. Mind you, if all we have to live for is a little green bar, then we have real problems!

OK, Silly question. What is the difference between a link and backlink?

Thanks
Caz

A link is a hyperlink from one page to another page, including pages on your own site or other sites. A backlink is an inbound link to one of your pages.

Not necessarily. I'm wondering exactly how you checked your links. Did you use for example "www.mydomain.com" as a search term?

If so, have you recently funded any PPC accounts? In my experience, funding 15-20 keywords on one or two large PPC companies (e.g., Overture) can send a links count higher by 200 – 300 within just about 5 – 7 days.

Unfortunately, it's an expensive proposition. They can eat $100 in clicks in just 3 or 4 days. Once the account funds run out, run your link count then drops just as fast as it rose.

I haven't seen any startling changes.

What you're being asked, bbott, is "what activity precisely are you seeing?" not "where are you seeing it?"

As it stands now, this thread is like

Q: What did you see?
A: Over there!!!
