Default Unfairly banned from google and yahoo...help..!

All,

I submitted our web site to both google and yahoo manually about 4-5 months ago. I also submitted our web site to the open directory about 5 months ago.

I then signed up to an excellent autosubmission tool (selfpromotion.com) and erroneously submitted again to both yahoo and google.........

I've been regularly checking the top ten web sites for our key words and NONE of them are effectively keyword optimised and they all use "cheats" to get where they are (for example sticking all the keywords in small print at the bottom of their pages).

Our web site? Not even in the top 10 PAGES!!!

Why is this? Are google and yahoo so harsh that they are punishing us for submitting twice, and ignoring the fact loads of other sites are cheating and getting top rankings???

Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated as we're all pretty dissappointed with this.....it's been nearly 6 months now and we're not even in the top 5 pages for ANY of our keywords.....

Web site: www.lacantinaproductions.com
Key Words: rap beats, rap instrumentals, hip hop beats, hip hop instrumentals

Thanks!!!

Jani

It is a waste of time submitting to Google - it does not help.

You just rank poorly, you are not being penalised.

At the moment anchor text in the backlinks is the most powerful way of ranking well - none of your backlinks have your keywords in them. I can only find 3 links to you. You need a lot more links, esp with your keywords as the anchor text.

Fair enough, but none of our competitors who rank in the top three pages for our keywords are doing this more or better than we are...

They are ranking high because it looks to me like they're cheating (key words in small font at bottom of page etc)

This is always a big no no in SEO, but it's disheartening to see others doing it and actually getting results out of it!

The few I checked have 100's of more links than you do.

They won't be ranking high for that reason - the effect of this is very minimal or none at all - it really is a waste of time to do it.
