If you buy multiple .coms and point them all at your original entry site, will it boost your rating at all?

I suffered before :)
I was pointing my .net domain to my main site .com

Resulted in PR=0 for .net and PR=3 ( from 4) for .com

The top site for one particular keyword phrase is getting great results for pointing .net to .com. All their product pages are .net and each product page has four links (with good key word text) back to the .com page. I consider this black hat and a dangerous practice but the site has been way up there for over a year now.
