Default Anyone has any experience of LinkPartners?

A webmaster emailed (or rather his LinkPartners account emailed) to say that our link has been added to this page:

The page might be quite new or maybe not - but it has no PR showing, although the Home Page is PR5.

My question is:
Is there any benefit in terms of "inbound links/anchor text" linking to sites using pages created by LinkPartners?

Anyone has any experience of LinkPartners?
Thanks.

I just opened a LinkPartners account about a week ago. Yes, you provide html for your site with anchor text and a description of up to 200 chars. What I like about it is that you can search their directory of sites who all have a links page (with 'add url form' or email) and see for yourself what the site is all about before requesting a swap.

The problem is that there's a lot of junk in their catalog (i.e., good sites that have no way of requesting a link, bad sites that do, PR5 sites with PR0 link pages) and you always have to provide a link first. If they don't want to swap, or if they are just a link rip off scheme, you may never get an answer to your swap request. So, then you have to check a week or so later and remove links you created to all the dead wood.

I have however received about 12 requests since I joined (I'm fresh meat). I've accepted about half. The others were obvious trouble.

I'm also trying something called PowerLinks.com now, which if it works, looks to be low maintenance. I haven't gotten their code working on my page (ASP) yet though. They are troubleshooting the problem.

Hi guys,
So now we're six months or so down the line, how do you feel about LinkPartners? Have you reaped the rewards of joining LinkPartners?

it'd be nice to know how people get on after a few months.

thanks, Dave

Default me too

Nice catch hawkwind dave, keeping an eye on this thread for all this time.
I have always been rather sceptical about the value of automated link exchange in this way, it seems to benefit very few people. I would be really interested to know how this went as well.

As a gut feeling I think it will generate a small amount of traffic, but not much in the way of SERPS. I base this assumption of the following.
When I search for something say 'cheescake recipes' the top results don't tend to come from sites that utilise any kind of automated link exchange or are part of any link exchange program. Has this been anybody elses experience?

I am pretty sure also (its the confident cynic in me) that out of all the link exchange programs out there there must be one or two that actually work. Does anybody know of any reviews or head to head comparisons between these many different programs? That would also be interesting to know

Actually, after 6 months I feel the same exact way about LinkPartners. I no longer request links, but do receive about 3 week. The majority are brand new pages, not even in Google's cache. So I ask them to write again once they're indexed.

As for PowerLinks, I love it. I have have little doubt that PowerLinks has help me substantially in SERPs.

The first site in my sig uses both LinkPartners and PowerLinks. The second site is PowerLinks only. Be advised if you visit PowerLinks from either of my sites, a referrer cookie is planted.

As a PowerLinks subscriber, if someone signs up from your referral, you get $10 which is the monthly subscription. For that monthly, you get about 1400 links now. I filter about 30% of them because they're casinos and pharmas. What's nice is tht you *can* filter. I actually have 3 accounts for the same site, using different anchor text. I turn off various categories in each account to avoid duplication.

PowerLinks is great idea, and a very powerful tool. (no I'm not affiliated in any way other than being a customer).
