Default Tool for finding potential link partners

I remember reading about a site that had a utility to find potential link partners by entering in your keywords. I seem to have misplaced this link so I was wondering if anyone remembers what I am referring to. Thanks in advance!

Teehee :P

This tool was basically just a doorway to Google, but it took the keyword you entered and then searched for sites with "add your link" on the page as well. I think that's how it worked atleast.

Just enter;

Your keyword "add your link"

into Google.

IMO, most pages which allow links to added automatically are probably not counted by Google come PR time.

No I'm not looking for link directories to spam to, but just other types of community websites that are looking for other valuable links. Thanks for the tips though!

IYO, do services such as LinkPartners/LinksManager hurt when it comes to Google rankings? i.e. can you get penalized for using services like these?

Also, is there a contrite list of things NOT TO DO on your site as far as Google is concerned? I know that you can look at thier guidelines, that certainly is a good place to start, but any additions to that?

How can Google spot an "allow links to added automatically" site versus a legitimate directory? Many directories allow users to add their business programmatically. How does Google know if these entries are Auto-publish or human edited?

Thanks,

Oneeye

If you run a directory with automatic addition and no human verification, you will quickly start getting loads of spamming data. Google is able to detect such unappropriate content and linking to bad neighbourhoods... and it will likely penalize your site.

Obviouslt, only a human editor can really keep the spammers at bay in this case and ensure your directory maintains a clean index.
