Default Why is this site number 1?

If you go onto google.co.uk and select just the UK sites and type in the term logistics consultants the number one postion is held by the following site ww.bootfam.freeserve.co.uk. This site has not got a description and has no keywords. On top of that it only has one link.

How is this site number 1?

Keywords in title, in text, and anchor text of internal links --> relevant.

You are on the first page of google.com for sponsored links:
Quote:
Sponsored Links

Independent Evaluation
By Strategists in Logistics
Transportation & Supply Chain
www.establishinc.com

Logistics Consultants
Supply Chain Planning UK Limited
Cranfield University Campus
www.scp-uk.co.uk
However, I wonder about the output I see from link:www.scp-uk.co.uk -- how many of these are your sites? and how many are on the same IP address? I see that www.supplychainplanninguk.com redirects to scp-uk.co.uk, as does www.logisticscentre.co.uk, and www.logisticssimulation.co.uk seems to have almost the same look-and-feel.

Either way, you do not have a lot of links pointing to the www.scp-uk.co.uk version of your site. It just looks to me like a linking strategy that may be hurting you rather than helping...

I haven't checked on google UK...

You are right I do own all of those sites and they are all hosted by the same company. I can drop www.logisticssimulation.co.uk that is not a problem.

But I have setup and a 301 redirect on www.supplychainplanninguk.com as it is at the top of the search engine on yahoo. I do not want to drop this yet as I am getting quite a few hits from that domain through Yahoo. Will Yahoo and Google eventually change the address from www.supplychainplanninguk.com to my new address of www.scp-uk.co.uk? If not what can I do?

As for www.logisticscentre.co.uk this is just a gateway to two different sites. One is scp-uk.co.uk and the other is logisticseducation.co.uk they are also both hosted by the same company and are linking to each other is this affecting my chances of high rankings?

cbp would no more about this but your gateway site looks more like a doorway, from what I understand (and I may be wrong) google may penalize you for having a doorway page linking to your site. I've heard both sides of the argument and decided to 301 direct my other url instead of using it as a gateway or doorway - a fine line. <-- sounds like a good topic.

Thanks for the advice on the gateway/doorway site but does anyone have any advice about the other sites?
