Default Alt tags & Anchored text links

If an image is a link to another page can you have a anchored text link as well as a alt tag for the image.

Default Could you elaborate?

In my experience, Google is as happy with ALT tags as with anchor text. This would make sense since graphic links make no sense to the engine without an ALT tag!

Thus...

is as valid to Google as...

a href="mypage.htm">Some text></a>

Could you elaborate on your question and why you are concerned about the need for both?

I'm confused, how would an image have anchor text?

I am guessing they might mean having the image as a link and also having a text link with anchor text below it?

I do that all the time - not sure what Google thinks of it, as I do it for the benefit of the user.

arrh, ok. Yes I do that too. Google don't seem to worry about it. Like cpb, I do it for visitors.

Default "title" attribute is a good call...

I totally agree - the "title" attribute of an <a> link is part of the latest markup specifications and the engines will be sure to respect it. I've read elsewhere that Google likes it.

Don't over-pack it with keywords though - they're bound to be watching for abuse. Try something more natural language like "click here for info about my keywords, etc".

To sum it all up: For image links, use the "title" attribute in the <a> link AND the "alt" attribute in the image.

My code looks like this

<div></div>

What does the "div" mean and what does it do? Should it be there or should there be another code?

Do not you think, alt tags are annoying for visitor, specally if there are several pic in a page.

If the images are at the top of the page or away from the text I don't see it a problem.

I feel it would be more annoying if the images didn't show, and there's no alt text to describe what should be there. Also, don't the blind use some kind of image reader which relies on alt tags?

Not to mention the SE benfits.
