Is a backlink in unrelated web useful??

If the index is 100 indicated the benefit of a backlink in related web, how much will a backlink in totally unrelated web get(index indicate benefit from it) ???

A. No one (outside of Google/Yahoo/MSN/etc...) really knows.

Themes may work some day.

Themes may even play a part in the Google(Yahoo, MSN, etc...) algorithm today.

But... I wouldn't turn down a link from anyone. ;-)

Personally, I don't believe in themes today and I'm not very optimistic about themes in the future. Proof? None. That's a completely unsupported supposition. In my mental model of search engine behavior, the answer is 95, because I'll discount 5 for visitors who come to your site by actually clicking the link.

You are sure to get some conflicting opinions here, but that's all they really are -- opinions. We're all very short on facts on this particular topic.

Especially, it is difficult in tech to decide if two webs are related or not, for example two webs with different languages and two word with same meaning etc.

What is more, lots websites add give some links of different themes , which include some government sites, none-profit sites etc. Putting on links of different themes if justified, i think.
