Sorry for being unclear what I meant was remove the tags you give in your first post. They are either unneccessary or are not used by the major search engines.

In my opinion you just need the description & keywords meta tags.

Default Re: Meta Tag??

Here is what each tag mean to Google or any search engine. You decide which ones are important:

<meta content="" name=Author>
Gives the author information.

<meta content=all name=googlebot>
You are allowing googlebot to visit your page. Even without this tag, you are allowing it. No need.

<meta content="all,index, follow" name=robots>
You are telling robots (crawlers) to index the page and follow links. Even without this tag, they WILL.

<meta content="5 days" name=revisit-after>
You are telling robots to visit after 5 days ... why do you need it? What's the problem if it visits you everyday? (this meta tag symtax is not correct)

<meta content=global name=distribution>
What is this for?

<meta content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0" name=GENERATOR>
It says you designed the page in "Microsoft FrontPage 5.0"

<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
It says you designed the page in "Microsoft FrontPage"

Do you think all these are necessary?

I agree - delete them all. They dont help and may even arm in that they give the SE crawlers more junk to crawl through before they get to the stuff that really counts.

You only really need the title tag (its real important) - however it also may help a little on some SE's to also include the description and keyword tags - thats all you need.
