Default Dash or underscore in filenames?

Hi. What is best to use in directory names and filenames? Dashes or underscores.

I don't believe it makes any difference but i thought i'd better ask to get opinions.

Thanks,
John

I'd say dash, since underscores are treated as letters while dashes as empty spaces.

The benefits of dash usage, especially in keyword dense filenames and directory names are obvious. Although in both cases file names, especially in articles tend to get very long... ;)

Hope this helps,
