Default When will I finally get PR?

Hello all,

I'm new here and I've got a fairly new site. I'm in the process of overhauling my meta tags, but I've also been focusing on links, but I've as yet to receive any PR from google.

Same story for my other page - even though I've finished optimizing keywords, and making each page description unique on that one - still no pagerank. linkbacks on the second site are not as easy to get, so I figured I'd be low for a while but I am still at 0 after two months.

With my primary site, which I am working on the most right now I've got a good solid two dozen or so PR 4 or 5 links, I've been listed in DMOZ and I am getting new link offers every day. I've got over 1000 people a day hitting my site though webrings, news stories and links from other pages, and I've even done two press interviews for stories on my site.

However, I really want a decent placement and pagerank from google and I've been sitting at PR0 for over a month. I know there is more I could do in terms of content, but I've actually got quite a bit more content than some of the other sites I've come across with similar content, and even though I'm using Iframes, and a Java based menu I have a text link to a site index page from the homepage listing each URL separately, and I know googlebot has gone through all my pages more than once.

Have I inadvertently done something to offend the googlebot?

site is linked in the signature.

Patience. All will be well.

Without a link the pros here can't tell much at all, though...

I cant find very many links into your site. PageRank is based only on incomming links, some of the pagerank of the page that is linking to you is passed onto the page on your site that is being linked to. The higher the pagerank of the referring page, the more that is passed to you, but it is also divided up between the other links leaving the page to it might take multiple links from that pagerank of a page to raise yours up.

The key is links. Links raise pagerank, and they raise the possition in the search results.

Part of the problem is the "sandbox" issue. If one of the moderators comes by I am sure they will put a link into the thread. If not, have a look through the topics.

I have two sites suffering with this. One has only one page ranked and the other no ranking after 2 months. I figure it is the "sandbox".

Doh! Missed it, sorry.

Does anyone happen to know when the next Google PR update is due? I have a new business directory in a subfolder at one of my domains (parrysound.com/directory/), it was fully spidered 2 weeks ago and still shows PR0, and we're not getting any hits on it from Google.

I found newly created pages (html, or otherwise), can take upto 2 updates to be ranked, most have -1 of your index PR. I.E. I'm a PR4, and my internal pages are PR3.

I'm still waiting for lots of pages to be PR'd..

Default Thanks

Thanks all,

I guess I just need to wait for google to get arround to reindexing the pages that are linked to me, and visit my site a few more times.

I know I have the backlinks, because I've received notice from plenty of pages that they've linked to me - and I am getting lots of hits from those pages, google just hasn't gotten arround to revisitng their sites I guess.

On top of that the sandbox issue is really a pain. Why does google do that?

Yea, it's the sandbox thing. I started a site at april 6th, and did a lot of directory listings and link building. I didn't get page rank until late may. So my guess would be to wait another month. Waiting sucks :(

Not according to LinkPopularity.com. According to them, at least for right now, you've got 3 links in Altavista, 12 links in Hotbot, and ZERO links in Google.

Have you checked to make sure that all of those webmasters have actually added your link -- some people say they'll do it, then don't.

That Javascript sidebar menu could be a problem. Search engine bots can't follow it -- the only link out from your front page that search engine bots can follow is to your site index page and none of your other pages are linked back to your front page. The menu is also very hard to read, raising an accessibility issue that could get you dinged.
