Type of Backlinks

OR
http://www.domainname.com/directory/...ump.php?id=212

Above type of backlinks will help in Google page rank of any site? Or HTML link format is the only way to backlink.

In that example, the PR and link popularity would go to "domainname.com". If those are redirects to other sites, no PR or link popularity would be transferred to the recieving site.

An example of this would be the Links section of most PHPNuke sites.

It's best to have a direct link, not one that requires the execution of a script. Search engine spiders generally don't execute scripts.
