Default Wrong URL Indexing by Google

Hello Everyone,

Recently I have had a typical problem.

My home page was having PR5 and most of the inner pages are of 3 and 4

Now recently Google is not indexing my home page (home page only). When I make a search for http://www.softzsolutions.com it is showing some URL
www.sterlins.com/cgi-bin/out.cgi?id=2987 which is a business directory and I ahve submitted my site there some time ago but later deleted it.

As a result of the whole story my Home Page PR gone down to 0 while all other PR remain intact.

Also I lost my ranking for home pages. I have already written to Google. Is there anyone to help me out

Best Regards

Sandip Kar

40 of your pages are indexed in Google, but I think you are referring to your site not showing up highly for searches on your site name?

I can offer no reason for your site not showing up for URL searches when there are 40 pages indexed by Google, unless google is applying some sort of penalty or it is a glitch.

Write to google and ask them.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

All other pages in my site are unaffected and they are ranked as before.

My point is how this URL www.sterlins.com/cgi-bin/out.cgi?id=2987 come into the picture when I have no relation with them.

I have already written to Google. Reply will be posted here

I can't see why your site is getting linked to this page as the page seems to contain a meta refresh to itself! That is unless it has changed since your original post.

This has happened to a couple of sites that I have been involved with, it's a very frustrating problem. Both times the problem was caused by sites that dynamicaly generate a meta refresh through to the affected site.

I contacted Google and got a standard response pointing me to their "Webmasters Guidelines" page.

The dirty cache problem has resolved itself in one case, but the PR of the page is way down on what it should be. I am hoping that this will change in time.

I will be very interested to hear what response you get, best of luck.

Google's Reply

--------------------------------------

Thank you for your reply. It is possible that the problem you are reporting is due to a configuration error that occurred at your webhost at the time we crawled your site. If the host inadvertently shows the wrong page for a short period of time, and the Googlebot web crawler happens to visit your site during that window of time, then our automated crawler may confuse the two sites.

Googlebot will periodically revisit your site. If the configuration problem is fixed, then the problem may correct itself in the next few weeks. We encourage you to contact the webmaster at http://www.sterlins.com and work with them to fix the problem.

What do you think my friends?

In this case I would follow Googles advice. starting with contacting the directory that you deleted your listing from and explain teh problem to them.

They might be more interested in helping if you mention that the URL results in a neverending cycle of refreshes.
