Google Keyword Inventory
OK, we know that Google will not allow you to search its keyword inventory -- is it because they don't have one or simply does not want its customers viewing number of impressions they really get? This is quite disturbing to me. While they let you calculate predicted ROI, I find their methodology somewhat suspect.
After running a rather large Adwords campaign wherein we had 10,000+ keywords, after 3 months, supposedly relying on their industry expertise, less than 100 of those keywords received any traffic, which tells me that a computer comes up with keyword suggestions. They are NOT based on actual searches.
I applaud Overture and Findwhat for letting us see their search word inventory and for that reason, our success on Overture and Findwhat have been considerably better than our massive Google campaign. Google said they use a combination of actual search phrases used, plus variations which are computer generated.
I frankly find these campaigns comprising thousands of search phrases a waste of time. Google makes it look like they are reaching out into the Internet universe trying to find traffic for your website, but it's all hype.
