Default Results showing tabbed second result?

I'm sure this has been discussed many times, but I'm not sure what to look for. So I apologize for the duplication of this question.

Ok by following the google result link below you will see a result that has a second page result tabbed directly underneath of it. I'm to tired to compare the results and see why, so I figured one of the geniuses here would be able to tell me.

Thanks,
Ryan

You'll note that Google only returns at most two pages from the same website. What you call a tabbed result, by which I presume you meant indented, is simply a second page from the same website as listed right above it.

I do not know how this algorithm works. But I think, the first result is the one with the highest rank, and the second result is the second most relevant page from the same site.

If you have two pages in the SERPS for Google appearing on the same page, they will cluster them together. Those results are not necessarily one following the other ... it could be a few slots lower in fact.

It was very noticable at Yahoo when they used Google results. They did not cluster them and you would often see the indented page several positions down (Yahoo defaults to 20 results per page, btw).

Go into your Preferences at Google and up the number of returned results to 100 per page. You will then notice a big difference in this type of reporting ... there will be more indented results because the chances of two pages coming from the same site will be greater.

I am also sorry if this has been answered somewhere before, but with regards to the indented listings, do these count as placements?

For instance, which is the correct method for counting a site's placement in the list?
Code:
A1 -- 1
  A2 -- 2
B1 -- 3
C1 -- 4
  C2 -- 5

A1 -- 1
  A2
B1 -- 2
C1 -- 3
  C2
Thanks.

Okay, given a little time, it looks as though the result count "does" include the tabs.

Doing a search yielding only 10 results, I count that the indented results are included in the 10.

Guess I answered my own question...
