I'm wondering if someone can clarify this for me. I was told a while back that google is going to start penalizing sites that have the word "links" in the urls. Does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks! |

I agree that it isn't a problem.
My site includes a page http://www.duncanpollock.com/LinksPage.html and not only Google has indexed it, but it turns up in a number of searches that show in my logs. Duncan

I've seen people panic, and change the URL to anything but link.html etc. Personally, I've kept the page as it is and have not seen any major worries to convince me to change.
The problem with SEO and forums, is that you read something and the majority of people will go with the flow and change something at a wim. It's got to be proven - and know one has convinced me of that yet. Darren :) |

I agree, it has no effect.
Google does penalize for other reasons and many of these reasons would exist on a links page, so by default I believe that many links pages that are named links etc. get penalized. |
