I was surfing by and saw these post about Google. I'm curious how people really are doing with there Google AD Sense.
Our site has just started using them a few weeks ago on about 200 pages and we are getting what we feel is a very high CTR. (I had it in here till read other posts concernig disclosing statistics of Googles.) We have no way to gauge this and it seems we maybe right. Our traffic is ramping up fast, doubling in less than two weeks because we are re-investing all income into SEO and PPC and a lot of time into key word content. I'm not bragging because if we are doing something right we are still not sure what it is. Maybe if someone looked at our site they might know what we are doing right. |

To be honest, we generally find that affiliate marketing is more profitable than Adsense in most sectors, but that's just our experience.

I think the key to affiliate marketing is finding a product/store that you can sell well. Once you have the product sorted, it's fairly easy to build your sites to do the actual selling. It's all a matter of finding the right niche.

I agree with ShouthamptonAngel. You need to find a niche where you are knowledgeable and can contribute useful information that will attract visitors.
It is difficult in some big ticket areas e.g. jewellery where you are up against overwhelming competition. A search in google for jewellery will return 45,000,000 hits. These 45M sits are your competitors. Your niche can still be in jewellery but it needs to be a niche where you can clearly see a way to market the specific product/idea that you have. Then you need to optimise your site to attract visitors because without traffic the best looking site in the world will not make any money. Look at the tips on this site concerning SEO for google and other search engines and concentrate on improving the site. While you are optimising your site you can start with google adsense and google will do the work of placing suitable ads on your site. At the same time you can look to see whether there are affiliate advertisers who have products/services that are related to the topic on your site. |

Adsense can help pay the bills but there is no comparison to the amount of money that you can make from some affiliate products. But you can generate some cash flow from Adsense traffic that you could plow into a PPC campaign for some affiliate products.
