The Adsense for search results ADS keep having a border around them.

I tried fixing this by making the border, background and logo background white.

I also tried both checking and unchecking (at different times, in case this isn't obvious) the box that says to use these colors on your ads pages.

How do I get rid of the border? Or should I make a cell border on the page and make it something that matches?

If that link doesn't work, please see what I'm talking about by going to 3dfoilart (only if you want to!) and enter something in the search, please.

Good question.

It is a long time since I set this up on my site.

Since my site search results also have borders round them I'm afraid I cannot answer this question quickly..

Here is a link which looks like it may have the answer, but if Gogole don;t want you to do it - maybe it is best not to do it??

PS - in my experience so far - it is not worth spending too much time on your search as the earnings are fairly small compared to other adsense units.

I added the search box because I had removed search a long time ago and had no search on the foil art site.

Then I figured ok, good, I now have search and won't bother thinking about getting money but the first day search was up I got $1.09 for one click. I haven't gotten that high for any on my ads units, so far. Beginners luck, most likely!

But you can make a good (trusted) SE if you

1. Test included sites with this Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page for skupot.com
2. Have a good feed of trusted sites, one per line.

You certainly can have the adverts without a border, im sorry i dont know how to do it because i use a plugin for joomla on that particulat site, but you definatly can get rid of the borders...somehow... lol

I couldn't believe my eyes!

I just changed my avatar - I don't sell dogs and certainly would not part with my darling, Dazzle, whose photo that is, so I made the avatar from one of my English foil art map posters.

That should help clear things up a bit for the foil art site.

Jordan pointed me in the right direction on the google AdSense forums. Thank you, Jordan!


To get rid of the blue border use the default color scheme you saved or make sure the background is #FFFFFF while border is #FFFFF1.


My problem was that I thought the border had to be hex white FFFFFF.

In actual fact the eCPM for the adsense searches is pretty high on my site compared to the non search pages - so I have now also made the 'search' button easier to find by using one of the custom (ugly but hard to miss) gray background with extra google logo...

I'm glad you decided to use AdSense for search. Please remember to update your competitive ad filters for search, if you haven't already.

I discovered that the competitive ad filter is a little tricky because you have to click on the AdSense for search tab and enter the URL's there. I realized that after seeing that my art sites were getting competitors' URLs in the search results.

It's just a matter of becoming familiar with AdSense.

I'll not bother with my site - as I don't really sell anything, I don't care where people go to from my site..
But it would be importatn I guess if your main income was from selling stuff through your site (in which case I would also consider turning off the sponsored ads in your search results completely).

Jordan, I just checked my foil art site search results pages and they don't show sponsored ads. The sponsored ads do show up on my dress forms site where I use AdSense for Content.

I believe I have everything set up correctly now.

My eCPM has gone down slightly since implementing these changes!

But it is only slightly and there is probably not really enough clicks to make it a statistically significant result.....

And what I make from custom search is tiny compared to the standard Adsense units anyway....
