Controlling which AdSense sites use my Adword Ads
We would like our AdWord ad campaigns to go to specific web sites that we deem appropriate, but would like to block our ads from going everywhere else in the "Content Network". Has anyone found a way to set it up this way?
I know this is the opposite of the way Google has set it up, they allow you to block certain sites that you've discovered are a problem, and then send your ads to an entire networks of sites.
How do you know which sites your ads are served on? Is there an easy way to block them all except the very few that you want?
Thanks CSR_VT

I don't run AdWords campaigns (yet) but I reckon that by analyzing the traffic your getting (i.e. cPanel / Website Stats / Latest visitors) you can see the referrer. Maybe this is how you can track websites that display your ads. Although google might "override" the referrer with the address of its adwords servers ...

Re: Controlling which AdSense sites use my Adword Ads
I have also been working with AdSense to correct the same issue. They seem to grab all kinds of keywords from the site and in many cases the ads do not reflect the site content at all. I spent some time blocking some obvious ads not related to my sites, but it got to be more trouble than it was worth - they just came up with more inappropriate ads. This is one of the reasons my AdSense revenue is so low.
So if you know how to target specific sites, that would be great, but I haven't found out how to do that within the Google system so far.

Re: Controlling which AdSense sites use my Adword Ads
I'm suspect that this may be what you are after - targetting sites from Adwords (not targetting sites from Adsense)
From Google Adwords
======================
Bid CPC on placement-targeted campaigns
Cost-per-click (CPC) bidding is now available for placement-targeted campaigns. Placement targeting (formerly site targeting) allows you to choose the parts of the Google content network where you want your ads to appear. Previously, you could only place bids on a cost-per-thousand impressions (CPM) basis when using placement targeting.
What's more, preferred cost bidding is now supported for both CPC and CPM bids in placement-targeted campaigns. After choosing the bid type that fits your needs, you can specify either the average price or the maximum price that you would like to pay for each click or 1,000 impressions.
Now you can select the sites on the Google content network where you want your ads to appear and choose the bidding option that best matches your advertising goals.

Yes, Google does provide for your targeting specific sites within their Content Match network.

yes, but the problem is that publishers might not want say "Insurance ads" It might be fine to choose the site you want. . . But maybe the reason you want that site, is exactly the same reason they might not want you.

It is my understanding that, using Google's site placement feature, one can place ads only on those sites which accept ads for the keyword in question.
If anyone here knows for certain whether or not this is correct, their stepping forward with such information would be appreciated.

I'm at a loss to understand that; is that a localized reference?
There was a time when "Ford" here was derisively described as being an abbreviation for "Found on road, dead" and "Fix or repair daily," but clearly neither have a reference to "car insurance" here in the US.

Re: Controlling which AdSense sites use my Adword Ads
It appears it works both ways. You can bid on placement-targeted campaigns. But on the other side of the coin, website owners still have the option to exclude certain advertisers -- so if they didn't want your ad on their website, they can exclude certain domains.
Then again, adsense on business websites equates to every ad being a competitor for a site's traffic, since it whisks would-be customers off the site if they click an ad... But that's a different topic altogether.
As long as your ad doesn't compete with their website / business, I doubt it would be a problem.

Although I'd previously owned only Chevys and Datsuns in the preceding 40+ years, I now own a Ford Focus!
And, I'm still genuinely curious as to your remark re. "Ford" meaning "car insurance."

Re: Controlling which AdSense sites use my Adword Ads

"I'm still genuinely curious as to your remark re. "Ford" meaning "car insurance."
An insurance company can simply list the word "ford" as one of the words it want on the page its ads are shown on.
'Ford Insurance' 'Ford car cover'
If I have text on a page that said 'Ford' - 'Car' - and even ' tonneau cover' I will likely get an insurance ad. Insurance companies can list Ford as a keyword. I think Google is cutting down on some of these practises though.
I think eBay has just about every word in the dictionary covered. you could probably create a page, Put an article on chicken legs on it. Ad your AdSense code - and you would probably get an ad from EBay pop up " find chicken legs here" even if they have none - but you would get re-directed to the chicken category. . .
Publishers do not like this crap . . . Many are waiting for something better to evolve.
Advertisers often gripe at the crap sites that show AdSense - But many publishers gripe about the crap advert they expect us to place on our sites.
Yes there are a ton of sites who do not care, they just want clicks. I do not blame Advertisers wanting to choose the best place. But some cheat! . . .

Given your capitalization of Ford, I thought perhaps that " FORD meant "car insurance"" was a colloquial expressions similar to those I cited, along the lines of "If you own a Ford, you'd best have a good warranty to cover the inevitable & frequent repairs that will ensue."

You're quite right about this; I see the same on AdWords listings as well. And, it's not only eBay that engages in such; the various comparison pricing shopping sites are equally guilty. Of course, one must consider Google to be an accomplice, as they make little to no effort to vet AdWords listings.
On the bright side, though, I did find a search phrase that is completely wide open, one that no AdWords advertisers are bidding on - "banana ticket" - and which can therefore be had for a pittance!

Re: Controlling which AdSense sites use my Adword Ads
You can setup site targeted campaigns. You get to pick the site the Adsense ads will be displayed in.

Note: The OP's question is re. Ad Words ads, not AdSense ads.

deepsand. . . AAAH, I understand now how you read that. .
Ford means car insurance The written word is far harder to understand than the spoken word.
But I do really like the way your mind saw the alternative interpretation. .(I like that) - I never saw it at all.

Perhaps the difference between the spoken and written word lies in the fact that the former requires immediate interpretation, whereas the latter allows time for its being pondered.

Re: Controlling which AdSense sites use my Adword Ads
Body language.
Face to face. when I said 'Ford means car insurance' I would have seen your body language, your face, your expression. I would have stopped. clarified immediately (even with my own body language) and continued.
the best we can do on the forum is choose a smiley
You can start a post with some sort of supposition. In the real world you will see the body language that rejects the supposition. So you stop and re-phrase, rework, adjust the supposition to get some positive body language feed back.
when you get the nod. . . you continue.
On the net the post would continues down the page. wrong supposition? - nobody reads beyond that point. (unless of course they wish to argue) Many argument would never develop, if the first post was short, and merely offered the topic, (got feedback) before the first post wandered off in the wrong direction.
Its a bit like starting a post with " Jesus Said " To many readers, that is the stopping point. . not a starting point. what is written below may well never be read, let alone understood.
AdSense
I recently was looking at some classified adverts - the sort of thing that said 'car for sale, complete except for Gearbox' Search engines read that word. . and have no Idea that that word is the only car part it need not respond to. . An AdSense ad for replacement gearbox parts . means simply that Google has simply not read the advert correctly. The webmaster needs to step in. . . Removing an ad from your site. can save the person buying the ad money.
the original post asked.
