Default SEO Keyword research

Here's a bit of research I've done using google, adwords and overture's suggestion tool.
I'd like to know if it's anyone else's experience.
It's also UK targeted.

The terms search engine optimisation is more searched than seo.

However when I tested lots of variations in Adwords the most popular search was
'regional qualifier + seo'. I would have thought it would have been 'seo + regional qualifier' due to the amount of searches I get for 'web design + regional qualifier'.

Anyone any thoughts?

Makes sense to me. Those searching for search engine optimization are researching the topic, whereas those searching regionally+seo may be ready to find a local expert to do some business. Buyers are usually those searching more specific and long-tail queries, hence why the conversions rates are much higher. Or it could be the actual seo businesses doing competitve analysis. heh

Re-read your post.

Yes, it's common across many different industries for the searcher to query:

what they want first + then where they want to get it.

at least in my experience.
