Default Don't Understand Google AdWords at all

Hi folks, maybe you can help me to understand Google better. But already, I'm starting to Hate Google.

Check out this report I pulled for one of my campaigns: http://www.fineartphotogifts.com/report.htm

Notice the two keywords that are "at risk." I don't understand why it's at risk.

The CTR is 1.27% and 1.33%. The avg positioning is 1 and 1.1.

What does Google WANT??? How much better must these keywords do in terms of CTR or how much I'm paying (did you notice that?) in order to be NOT at risk?

I have another campaign doing the same thing.

What am I missing here? People are clicking through...and very well at that.

So what the #$%^*& does Google want???

Just my opinion. I think your keyword list is very short, you should made a longer list and write at least two separate ads in the same campaing with two different keyword groups. Then checked its relevancy. When you have a longer list of keywords you increase your chances of biding a lot less so your campaing is more profitable. Did you make any sales?

Yes, what you said makes sense. But here's the problem. I had a ton of keywords initially. Then Google came by and marked each of them "slowed" and eventually turned them off because they weren't doing "well enough" So, then I had to delete all the keywords that were stopped.

On one phrase, for instance, "office decoration"...it fits my site. I have a page that talks specifically about decorating your office with my images. But Google didn't like the fact that there were about 500 other sites that wanted office decoration. So the way to fight for this is to up your CPC. So I did, and it reached, say position 3. But not enough people clicked on it in the first few days, so they slowed it again, and it was eventually deleted.

Am what I'm saying making any sense, or am I completely off base in understanding Google's system?

Its based on your last 1000 impressions. Overall your CTR could be high but if its low on your most recent 1000 impressions is low they will gwt you.

I had something running there. First 800 impressions 3 sales, last 1500, disabled. Frustrating.

Gee, that doesn't seem entirely fair. As you pointed out, I could be doing great for 6 weeks, and then in the first 3 days of the 7th week the ad gets axed because the last 1000 impressions didn't produce enough clicks?

If that's true, then that's utterly insane and stupid. What would be better is if they did a running average, kind of like the basic stock-price indicators. Though it's not ideal, I see much more flexibility and usability in that scheme than Google's current scheme.
