Default Adsense Search Question

In terms of the Adsense Search Reporting, are the "impressions" that are indicated the number of actual searches and the "clicks" the number of clicks on the ads?

An impression refers to each time the specific ad is viewed, and not necessarily the number of searches. Clicks would be the number of clicks on the ad.

Maybe I was not clear. I have the Google search box on one of my sites and in the affiliate reporting system there are "impressions" and "clicks".

My question is, in this case can "impressions" be defined as number of searches conducted? If so, why don't they just call it "searches"?

Generally, yes. As I understand it, each time an ad is displayed counts as one impression and each time it is clicked is shown as one click on your reports.

Some searches may result in no relevent adverts being shown and therefore they shouldn't count towards the effective CPM.
