Default Adsense and W3C Validator

Greetings all,

I'm attempting to clean up my website (www.tabletennisdayton.com) pages as noted by W3C validator, but a number of the notations are a byproduct from AdSense Search. In particular, the validator claims that one line need not have an </img> closing tag, while 11 lines need not have </input> tags. Yet there are corresponding opening tags. Even so, I can't edit these lest I break the Google TOS.

Does anyone have any relevant advice in this regard?

Bill M.

What HTML version format are you trying to validate?
It will vary depending on that.

Thanks for the reply, John.

I have my pages doctype set as HTML 4.01 Transitional (in full, <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">)

The only reason I have a doctype at all is that the validator basically insists on one. 4.01 Transitional was the most forgiving, certainly more so than Strict.

But it too wags it's finger at the Google code, and why, I don't know. The tags it notes are seemingly properly open and closed.

That DOCTYPE declaration is incomplete. It should read

Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

Perhaps try again with the corrected DOCTYPE declaration... however, I have to say that my first thought when I read your post was, "Why do you care? If the AdSense code works, and obviously it does, ignore the validator.

My second thought was, "What validator are you using?"
